Weird.. this is my second reply to myself... mmm... :-( Anyway, I manage
to have OpenCA installed on a Debian (Sarge 3.1 rc 3). I had to install
several additional packages, the most noticeable errors where:

* missing openssl headers (I installed the packages from the sources)

* difficulties of perl-prerequisites (with cpan the XML-Twig module
   still was difficult to install), by installing the packaged perl modules
   everything else was fine:

        $ apt-get install libxml-parser-perl
        $ apt-get install libxml-twig-perl

   and remember that the default apache user/group on Debian is 'www-data',
   so set the appropriate options when using the ./configure script of
   openca. Moreover the user 'nobody' does not exists, so set the right
   openca user to some user that exists (root/root ?).

But be warned: I tested the new upcoming version, with the old one you might
experience different problems. Anyway, let me know if this helps.

Cheers,
Max.
