I'm just now starting to learn about OpenCA, however before I get too far involved in it, I'd like to ask quickly of its capabilities.
I was using OpenSSL for quite a while to try and set up a new CA hierarchy but ran into a problem trying to get an offline subordinate to set up properly from an offline root. Essentially what happened was after I signed the request from the subordinate (on the root), I then took the signed cert to the subordinate and tried to setup the CA with the specific cert. So far my attempts to get it to work have failed as each time the OpenSSL app wants to create a self-signing CA and not one authenticated from a higher authority. So my question is can OpenCA do what I'm trying to accomplish? I'll need a three tiered hierarchy, a root offline, a subordinate offline and then online CAs after that.
