This sounds familiar. I'm sorry I can't be more specific as I'm in the
middle of an all-nighter with a crushing deadline.  However, I think we
hit this and posted a patch to the mailing list several months ago.  I
think it might have involved patching DBI.pm.  Search the list and see
if you can find it.  I do hope I'm not sending you on a wild goose
