Quick question.. are you installing from the packages or are you compiling it from the sources ? The packages are compiled on a MacOS 32bits..
Maybe for the 64bits we need to update the configure script to link with the appropriate 64bits libraries (??). Later, Max On 09/01/2010 10:44 AM, Alex Weirig wrote:
Hi Max, thanks for your kind reply. Actually, I just managed to get OpenCA working on Mac OS X Server 10.6.4. There are a couple of things you need to do. I think I will write a small documentation and provide screenshots. I will send you the document and also provide you the files required for DBI and DBD::mysql. You can then eventually post them on your site. Short version for the curious: OpenCA doesn't work with 64bit perl enabled by default in Mac OS X 10.6. It even fails when you tell Mac OS X to use perl 5.10.0 in 32bit mode. You have to use perl 5.8.9. Obviously you then need to compile DBI and DBD::mysql for the 32bit and therefore you must install a 32bit version of MySQL on your server. In order to make this work, you must add /usr/local/mysql/bin at the beginning of the path in order to make the system pick the "custom" installed version of MySQL first and pick up it's configuration and include files. You can edit /private/etc/paths for this (add /usr/local/mysql/bin in the first row), close terminal and reopen it again. You must also make sure your kernel is in 32bit mode. If the kernel is in 64bit mode, the installers for OpenCA_Base and OpenCA_tool will fail with an error message "Can not raise admin priviledges". This is based on Mac OS X 10.6.4. However, I suggest you to use the ports (http://www.macports.org) for getting the required modules on MacOS (search for p5-dbd-mysql or p5-dbd-pg). Let me know if this helps you. It appears that Apple doesn't provide the DBD:mysql module, required by OpenCA and we've had a hard time trying to compile it. Since you are providing a Mac bundle of OpenCA that should work for 10.5+, we've been wondering if you had the possibility to provide the required modules in your bundle. Also, maybe one of your customers might be running OpenCA on Mac and could be willing to provide the required modules so that you can bundle them. I would greatly appreciate any support you could provide helping us getting OpenCA run on Mac OS X Server.
