Yesterday I wrote to the list but the subject of the email was not clear.
I send it again.
I have a question about something is not very clear for me. Reading
INSTALL and INSTALL.UBUNTU files, there are things thats it
seems to be old and no more used. For example, I always have doubs about
which openssl version to use.
in INSTALL file says:
Version 1.0.0+ of OpenSSL exports different interfaces than 0.9.x
versions, therefore some PERL packages had to be patched in OpenCA.
Please do not try to update packages like IO::SSL as the ufficial
distribution *would not work with new OpenSSL versions*.
but paging down a find this:
Please take care that this version requires OpenSSL 0.9.7+ and
should compile on Linux with gcc (glibc2.1+) and Solaris 8+ with
gcc, if you can compile it under other platforms, please report
patches to openca-de...@openca.org or openca-us...@lists.sf.net so
as to include support for it.
Actually I am using debian stable which comes with openssl 1.0.1e
# openssl version
OpenSSL 1.0.1e 11 Feb 2013
It ok to use this version?
or should I compile an specific version?
or install on debian 6(oldstable) which brings openssl 0.9.8o
# openssl version
OpenSSL 0.9.8o 01 Jun 2010
I would appreciate any clarification about this
thanks
Nicolás
