Hi all,
some updates as I am back from the Rome LiMe2000 (more on
the web site about it). I've been pleased to see that some
kind of interest has been there for our project. I've taken
contacts for:
* TimeStamping developing : it seems that a final
engeneering thesis will give us its implementation
on the most recent rfcs;
On Nov 24th I'll be in Torin together with people from the
Politecnico of Turin (Security Group) and from the CSP
(www.csp.it). I hope them to actively support our project,
there are good chances about it.
Still we need:
* OCSP : I have recently added a new module to
the cvs tree (openca-ocsp), anyway I noticed
some openssl people is working on it, I am
adding it to the web/ftp site. Let me know
your opinion about it and if you find it useful
to continue the developing of this module;
* SCEP : CISCO's Certificate Enrollment Protocol
implementation. Some time ago a message was on
the list about it, anyway no contribution to
the project was given. Is there anyone who wants
to contribute (??);
* Smar Cards: with the work of kefren there is a
PKCS#11 module for Netscape. This is not enought
and some work on it should be done, is there someone
who wants to work on the problem ??? Consider
studiyng the new ENGINE support in OpenSSL...
* Re-Enabling of the Revokation Request in OpenCA:
this has been disabled because of it needed much
work (still pending) to be usable with latest
SNAPs.
* Module Docs: some docs in the OpenCA-XXXX module is
currently outdated and someone is needed who will
take in charge to get it consistent with modules'
current options and features - someone volunteers ?
It should be a relatively easy task: go through the
code, find the methods (functions), analyze the
parameters (most are self-explaining) and write pod
doc...
* OpenCA Docs: more and more doc is needed. More formats
(XML ??? ).
* Simos asked me if the OpenCA section of his OpenPKI
book was ready - you know how good am I in writing docs
and expecially how much I love the task :-D - still
most of it have to be done. Someone wants to help
Simos with this ???
* OpenCA Porting and Testing: we need some feedback, patches
and so on about OpenCA usage on different systems/OS.
Currently most Linux Distro have no problem with our
software, anyway someone who takes in charge of stating
it for sure ( I tested it : it works on x... architecture
with yyyy OS version zzzz ). This suould be done for,
at least:
Linux (RH, Suse, Mandrake, etc... );
Linux ( sparc );
Linux ( ppc );
Solaris ( i386 )
Solaris ( sparc );
BSD (FreeBSD, OpenBSD, etc... );
...
...
If you ave some other config tested please refer it. We
could identify someone who collects this info and keeps
the archive up-to-date.
This mail starts to be too long, so I'll cut it here - there is sufficient
material, anyway. Please start thinking about the points reported and
let us (me, you, everybody ) know what do you think about them and, hopefully,
your will to help the project.
C'you,
Massimiliano Pala ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
