Just untar the old version and compile it (do not install openldap old version).
Then you install the LDAPApi - The important part is to allow the LDAPApi to
access the old include files. When prompt for includes, just type in the
includes
directory of the 1.2 openldap version.

I don't know if this is going to work, anyway you can try it...
