Yes, I've also had this problem.

I'm using the Blackdown 1.1.7 release of the JDK with Slackware 4.0 (2.2.6
kernel).

I've actually gotten further with trying to install it under Linux than I did
under Windows.  Windows, it just plain refuses to run, when run against the
Java2 JDK. :)

BTW, after all is said and done, and after it looks like it's installed it under
Linux...it didn't even create the directory, much less install it.

I think I might have to install glibc2.1 after all, and install Java 2.  I'm
just really loath to do it, because it'll break about half of my code, not to
mention the enduring process it takes to upgrade to glibc2 :)
