Hi,

I was able to install.  It seems that the JDK for Linux available from
Blackdown was the problem.  I tried the Sun JDK for Linux 1.2.2 and it
worked after about 2 tries - though the GUI was really slow compared to the
Blackdown JDK.
It seems the installer must be run as root even if you install it to a user
directory.  Run as a non-root user - it crashed with a NULL - pointer
exception.
