     That means MPCOS-EMV is compliant with ISO-7816-4. This standard 
     specifies the chip nonvolatile memory area (EEPROM or Flash) is 
     handled by a chip operating system as a file system where you may 
     find and manipulate the structure of a root directory (MF), 
     sub-directories (DF) and elementary files (EF) which stores only 
     information but not code as the opposed to the new chip operating 
     systems like JavaCard, Multos or SCfW which provides space for both 
     data and code to be executed by a Virtual Machine inside the chip.

When I asked if MPCOS-EMV is an industry accepted open card, the answer 
is  MPCOS-EMV is based on an open system concept.
     
What does that mean exactly?
