Hi Christophe,
Thank you for your information. I am also a beginner of smart card, and I have
browsed the web site you have recommended. However, I have some questions:
1. Do I need to write my own program code in order to load a applet onto a Java
Card? Or I just use the utility come with development kit?
2. It seems to me that on MULTOS platform, the card management issue is well
taken care of. Whereas in Java Card Platform, the developer has to write program
code to handle the various card management issues, such as add/delete of applets
onto a smart card, load/unload applet or even card authentication. Is this
true?
3. To load a applet to a Java Card, do I need to apply for a RID from some
recognised body?
I have a tight schedule for this prototype, please kindly advise me on the above
questions. Thank you very much.
Cheers.
Janet

The best I think is to start using the http://www.smartcardcentral.com/
portal. Select first "Technical" and you'll find tutorials, white
papers, and links to standards and products.
Unfortunately, I think they missed the links to GSM standards..
The full specifications for GSM cards can be available free of charge
from the ETSI web sites (a registration is needed I think) at:
http://webapp.etsi.org/pda/
(the two interesting documents to search in the search engine are "GSM
11.11" -SIM- and "GSM 11.14" -SIM Toolkit- w/o the quotes)
You might also find some information on the GSM JavaCard APIs (most
of SIM card will sooner or later be Java-based) at the JavaCard Home
page but I'm not sure..
Hope it'll help.
PS: try to avoid binary in mails.. :-)
Cheers,
Christophe.
