Christopher is right that you can use pure Java CardTerminals
with javax.comm and the RXTX library (www.rxtx.org) but you can
also use the PC/SC wrapper that has been ported to Linux by
David Corcoran. See:

(look for "OCF->PC/SC Shim" link). You will also need the
implementation of the PC/SC resource manager for Linux (that
can be found at the same location).
