Yes it is! (if I understand well your question).

For a set of connected readers, OCF let you parse the list and search
either for names or characteristics, and then get a reference to the
right CardTerminal object (that represents the reader) after what you
can get references to the inserted smartcard(s) and work with it(them).

You will get more details from the OCF 1.2 Programmer's guide, and
on the issue of selecting the right reader, from the section titled:

"Obtaining a smart card from a particular card terminal" at URL:

After you have a reference to the CardTerminal object, you can either
use the application-driven model (synchronous) and wait until a card
is inserted, or the event-driven model (asynchronous) where events
will be fired in case of card insertion / removal. You will find
more details in the programmer's guide.
