Dear Srijoy!

Sebastian is correct in his answer anout the selection mechanism.
However you should be aware, that a normal SIMToolkit Applet written
for a Java SIM Card will normally never be selected directly. 
In fact these Applets are run when the main GSM applet is active.
The activation is normally performed by an event registered in the
Sim
