> Dylan Just: Hi, guys!

Alain : Greetings!

> Dylan Just: I just joined the mailing list

Alain : Welcome to OpenCard, Dylan.

> Dylan Just: I'm interested in doing a windows version
> of opencard.

Alain : Our objective is to deploy on several current platforms, among
them Windows.

> Dylan Just: I've never seen opencard before ...

Alain : Nor have we ! Yet.

> Dylan Just: - only heard little bits about it ...

Alain : Pray tell where you heard about OpenCard.

> Dylan Just: ... so you'll have to fill me in on the
> details. At what stage of development are we?

Alain : We're only in the preliminary stages of the project. We have
established that we will divide up the project into three main sections
: Programming, User-Interface, and Collaboration. Each of these
sections will be led by a coordinator, to be determined by a vote ...
soon. The programming seems to be progressing well too. You will have
to ask other members that are more involved in the programming aspects
of this project for more information though. I am primarily involved
with the collaborative aspects of our project. The collaboration
infrastructure which I am in the process of developing is not ready to
be deployed yet, but it is advancing steadily.

Alain : Are you aware of the fact that members of this group have a
special arrangement with MetaCard for the purpose of developing
OpenCard ? MetaCard, by the way, is a multi-platform system ( including
Windows ) that you can script with a language that is a superset of
HyperTalk, which is the scripting language of HyperCard of course,
which in turn is what OpenCard is aiming for in its first incarnation.

Alain : Welcome aboard, Dylan.
