Someone : How are we planning to vote? Should we email one person,
email the list, or write a cgi to handle it

Alain : I could whip up a voting CGI in a flash, a CGI quite similar to
the one that has been hosting the Save-HyperCard Petition which,
incidentally, now has 786 signatures.

Someone : (assumming we have a server to run such cgi)?

Alain : Yes we do. The CGI part was never lossed.

Someone : I would like to see the cgi option (with some form of
security to be sure only members vote)...

Alain : Password-protection is quite easy to implement.

Someone : ...but I think for this vote one of the first 2 options might
be easier. It is more important to get this vote taken than to discuss
the method of collaboration - that can come afterwards.

Alain : I tend to agree with you that the details of the collaboration
will necessarily come later.

Adrian : A CGI'd be nice, but then we'd need to issue everyone
passwords and authenticate. I could host a CGI for this (and write it
too), but I think we should just email to a person or the group.

Alain : In the spirit of simplicity, we could indeed use E-mail this
time. I will attempt, however, to deliver a voting CGI, unless you want
me to host yours instead.

Adrian : In the long run I think a CGI would be best and the sooner we
set it up the better. I would hope that the CGI would be hosted on the
same server that hosts the web page (probably the UFP server).

Alain : I couldn't agree more.

Adrian : How is the server working now Alain?

Alain : It is working fine. The server that hosts my CGI programs has
not been affected whatsoever by the G3 incident.

Adrian : Would you prefer someone else to take over hosting the site
(assuming someone can)?

Alain : No. I would definitely prefer to continue hosting the UFP and
OpenCard web sites. My 2nd version of the UFP infrastructure has been
and still is running. And my 1st version of the OODL infrastructure,
which will likely serve as a template for the 3rd version of the UFP,
is close to completion. If I wasn't such a perfectionist ( and other
factors ), these new versions would already be online. I am considering
showing off some of the infrastructure's pages to get some feedback
from y'all.
