Rob Cozens : As I review the various license provisions and follow the
accompanying discussion, it seems to me there is one basic issue left
unaddressed: What legal entity will issue the OC license? A group of
individual contributors, a non-profit corporation, or ??.
Alain : What did the Perl folk do?
Alain : Who issues licences in the other open source schemes?
Alain : If it becomes necessary to formalize our group as a legal
entity, then so be it!
Alain : Which brings up another issue. It may cost some money to
incorporate ourselves, for example. Other expenditures will eventually
become necessary. Hence the necessity for OODL to accumulate some
capital. So here is what I suggest: That OODL reserve for itself the
right to resale OC on CDROM and such. Whether this right-to-resale
would be EXCLUSIVE to OODL is a separate issue.
