This is the use I immediately thought of, but I only thought of using it as
a HC to OC converter (well all the xCards to OC converter really). We need
an interchange format so that we can convert between the different xTalks
and this, my fellow non-coders, is were we can begin work. Wouldn't it be
great to be able to take a MetaCard stack and convert it to HyperCard or
SuperCard or OpenCard and the same for any other xCard language and (as
Julien points out) beyond!
We should carefully review the XCML format and make sure that it is suitable
to be the conversion format and that it is extensible for future language
features and then begin writing import and export routines for as many
different languages as we can.
I have found a friend with a full copy of MetaCard and if it isn't against
the MetaCard licence, I could borrow his computer & copy of MetaCard and
whip up an exporter and importer for MetaCard, though I'm not sure when I'll
have time. Scott could you clarify if this is legal or not (mail me
privately if you wish)?
Otherwise I could take a look at doing this for Serf.

Between the xCard formats, there would be little need for conversion of
scripts except for things like changing the itemDelimiter to the
recordDelimiter for Serf and things like that that can be scripted.
