2 cents on basic and ht
comparing basic and hypertalk is like comparing oranges and bannanas - sure
they are both high level programming languages, close to "normal" english...
but the similarity ends there.
i think basics strength is its similarity to assembler. i think it is easier
to go from basic to assembler than from basic to c - especially earlier
versions which were unformatted (aka 'structured') and required line numbers.
i also think HT is best seen as a subset of pascal as its loop and control
structures are, well, very similar.
The reason i like basic and ht is because it lets anyone control their
computer rather than being at the mercy of developers like bg
