I have noticed for some time now that we seem to have
entirely given up on the idea of using relevant
subject headings in the messages that we post to our
list.
So please try to remember to use subject-headings that
really reflect the content of your message.
If your reply changes the subject of the content that
is being replied to, then change the subject-heading
of your reply too.
Please avoid vvvveeeerrrryyyy long subject-headings.
My preferred format for subject-headings is :
generalCategory - specificCategory - extraInfo
for example : "Guidelines - Threads - HeadsUp"
My preferred format for subject-headings of replies is
:
generalCategory - specificCategory - Re ....
for example : "Guidelines - Threads - Re:HeadsUp"
A little bit of extra work here because the "Re", by
default, goes before intead of after. Sorting by
subject improves substantially though.
Of course, none of this is obligatory, but it would
sure be nice!
