I'm angry. Extrememly angry.

If your toaster blows up upon normal use, burning your house down, you sue
the company that made the toaster.

If the toaster company finds out about a flaw in the toaster, they issue a
recall. They fix it, free of charge -- it was their mistake, after all.

So why is it that a software company, upon producing bad software which
fucks up your hard disk, has NO responsibility what so ever for it, and,
further, often makes YOU pay to fix THEIR mistakes?!

I ask because I simply wanted to view a two-minute streamed news clip. Not
too hard, right? Well, the morons encoded it with Windows Media Player --
but still, MS has a Mac version on their website. So I download it, and
start playing the clip.

After watching for ~30sec, FREEZE! Have to give the thing the Vulcan Nerve
Pinch(tm), and go to grab a snack.

Come back, the thing finished booting up. I'm greeted by a disk in
unrecognizable format dialog. I hit eject, resist the urge to curse the
thing out and wake everyone up, and go to Norton.

Norton starts doing some serious repair (which it is set to 'auto-repair'
for). I'll read the log later. Or so I think. Norton decides to unmount the
disk for a repair or two, and the fucking morons who wrote the disk driver
don't know the difference between 'unmount' and 'eject'. Remind me to kill
them later.

Not the worst problem; I can re-insert a disk. I've gotten used to those
dimwits. But then, the Finder decides it does not like disk ejections, and
proceeds to crash.

I then am staring at a MacsBug screen, and ready to REALLY start cursing
this thing. Since this has happened before -- someone at Apple apparently
does not properly understand ejectable media -- maybe that's why they got
rid of the floppies on the iMac? -- buut anyway, I hit 'es'. Works every
other time.

But this time, the Finder decides not to exit. I try a few more times --
drat. Does not work. Restart time.

Now, I go back and run norton, again. It finishes this time, and gives a
whole LOT of errors. No idea how much is due to the Finder dying in the
middle of Norton working and how much is due to MS Media Player. And that
other log from Norton would of been nice. But alas -- the fucking Finder
(wow! alliteration!) saw against THAT.

Of course, none of this would of happend if the morons at Apple could have
gotten their fucking act together and -- I donno -- given us Copland,
complete with protected memory and all. Thet Media Player would of only
segfaulted or otherwise crashed.

Anyway, I've got to do a few restores from backups. How fun. Anyone know of
some good, greedy, lawyers who work on a percent basis? I feel like
clogging up the courts. And maybe getting rich off of their mistakes, too.
