Uli, this is a classic misconception. The author can do with his work
as he pleases. Even if you put XBF under the GPL w/ that exception, you
can also license it under the standard-issue proprietary licences, too.
You probably lose this right once you accept a significant patch from
someone, unless they sign over all rights to you. We may want to do
this, though in the entire Free Software community, I think only the
FSF does.
