http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=00/03/27/0717244 Notes on documentation. We'll need it, unfortunately ;-) I think that the first item -- documentation that adjusts to the user's experience -- is a great idea, and is something that could be pulled off in FreeCard. It'd also be a significant use of FreeCard for everyone. Such a system could be something like FreeCard holding many documents to start with. The scripting in the stack would determine your level of experience based on how you rate your comprehension of each. Ex: If you rate your comprehension of the FreeCard GUI as high, we're not going to bug you with how to select from a popup menu. If you've done something a bunch of times, we won't bug you with how to do it. These ignored tips could still be brought up by a hypertext-like system. We'd call it the FreeCard Documentation Project, I guess. It'd have to be readily extendable. Someone could start work on this in HyperCard, or just with planning documents. If you'd like to, I'll be happy to add whatever you come up with to CVS.
