Right. Actually, the major difference is that OCF is addressing middleware issues, i.e., software running outside of the card, on client terminals or servers, while Visa Open Platform (VOP) is adressing card issues by providing a way to securely download javacard applets (and other types also in the future) in a card with a precise security protocol and standardized commands and their APDU notation. This is what I have understood from VOP.. Do not hesitate to correct me if I'm wrong (I hope not) or incomplete (certainly!). Thanks Dave. In fact, the first news is that the next version of the GemXpresso RAD will be based on OCF (it was also demonstrated at the Gemplus Developers Conference last week). Otherwise, if you already have a GemXpresso kit and cards and you want to communicate with the card through OCF, we provide on the Gemplus Developers web site (www.gemplus.com/developers) a CardService for these legacy cards (click on "Development Tools" > "Drivers" > "OCF" > "GemXpresso 1"). It allows to generate the CardService using the regular RAD stub-generator (DMI technology, see for more details this paper: http://www.gemplus.fr/smart/r_d/publications/art1.htm), and then you can use it over OCF by just changing the import lines. I also recommend to use the Gemplus Developer's site Forum (where there is an "OCF" section) for any requests, proposals, or questions that you might have concerning OCF related to Gemplus cards or readers or software components (CardTerminals, CardServices) provided on the developer's web. These freeware components are provided AS-IS without any warranty nor support, but you might find an answer to your question in the user's community, either inside or outside Gemplus.
