Hello.

I run an ID Card bureau. We use the Fargo Pro-L printer that has the
capabilities of encoding hi-Co
and Lo-Co magnetic swipe cards.

Lately, many of my customers are asking for smart card solutions to be
used in their organisations.
The concept in view would be Debit Card.
Areas - Cafe, Teaching institutes (Fees/Cafe/Stationery/etc.),
Entertainment Centers, Malls and
the
like.

I understand your specialization is in chip cards. My study results
reveal that the mag-swipe is more

cost effective and can cater to a wider customer base provided all the
transactions are inter linked

to one location - say a building. The reason of the null
char. is that since the encoding must be program generated it is
difficult to copy/ duplicate the
card thereby increasing the security aspect.

Please guide me if my understanding is incorrect.

I am having some problem in understanding the concept of NULL characters
to be encoded on the
card.

The concept is that each character encoded on the magnetic strip is in a
HEX format that ranges
from 00 to a to KK making 256 characters. The null character "00" (
which is denoted by a dot in
machine language ) can't be keyboard generated and has to be program
generated.

Tell me what do you understand by this and if there are any sites I must
visit to educate myself.

If possible, can your organisation help in assisting in setting up such
systems.

Thank you,
Best Regards,
Vikram Mangharam
