Hello OCF,
We are integrating OCF into Solaris UNIX so that OCF becomes a
core operating system service in our next OS release. We have run
into an issue with the naming of the "core" directory - in UNIX,
a file named "core" is usually generated by the OS when an application
has a severe fault of some sort, and this "core file" contains
a snapshot of the memory image, processor state, etc... of the
application at the time of the fault. Well, over the years, it
has become a de-facto convention that files and directories should
not be named "core" due to the special significance of this name
to the OS (similarly to not creating a file named "COM1:" on a
Windows platform).
What is the possibility of OCF changing the name of the "core"
directory and corresponding package name to something else in
some future release (perhaps V2.0)? Is this even in the realm
of possibility?
thanks,
mike
