I hope this is sufficiently on-topic for this list. Apologies if not.

I'm trying to find smartcards and software to solve a particular problem,
without much luck. We wish to use a smartcard for strong authentication
(PIN-protected, crypto-on-the-card, PKI). We want to be able to use this
directly for secure, authenticated web browsing (pkcs#11 etc). And finally
(and currently the killer!) we need to be able to support Macs and assorted
UNIXes as well as Wintel for the clients.

Something with the functionality of the Gemplus GemSafe card, but
implemented on a Java card with OCF as the glue, appear to be the most
likely option at the moment. However, I'm as yet unconvinced whether
our aims can even be achieved, lesser still achieved securely.

Any guidance whatsoever would be of value - even if it's 'you can do it with
X hardware, but you'll need to write all of Y and Z'!

Many thanks.
