Roger, If you get hold of a third party Java Communications API you should be able to use quite a few Java smartcard drivers which use the serial port (such as the Gemplus ones, the Litronic/ SMart Mouse etc...). Look at http://www.sc-systems.com, who publish such a thing for OS/2 amongst others. I have thier driver for Linux and it works fine.
