To answer your questions:
Some guys from IBM are admins for this mailing list/group on behalf
of the OpenCard Consortium.
The reason we enabled the auto subscribe feature was that people
would post to the mailing list (which is being mirrored on the
news.opencard.org server) while not being subscribed to it---as a
result they would never get an answer back.
I completely agree with your complaint and have disabled the auto subscribe
feature. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience you had to endure, we were
trying to "fix" one problem and inadvertently introduced another.
