oops,

I'm quite new on OCF - just closed the first project with this.
I didn't realize the severeness of the issue from the header until today.

My vote: don't let OCF die!

As a small company, we cannot put too much into a missionary project (which
IBM and others can't support....), but what we maybe could do:
- some hosting - maybe not only static pages, but also Lotus Notes based
Groupware (eg. team room for moderating discussions)
- whatever can be done on a Linux box (Mailing List ?)
- some modest contribution, like some card services and terminal
implementations and adaptations we produced so far

Could it help to move OCF to the "Open-source Mainstream", like having it
on sourceforge and using their infrastructure?
Putting it a little bit towards linux? Cooperating with M.U.S.C.L.E. ?
Are there any license problems?

I also will send a cc to our partner in India. Maybe they have interest or
know somebody who could devote some time to manage a standardisation
process on smart cards.

Important announcement from the OpenCard Consortium Board.

At the last Board meeting of the OpenCard Consortium the following motion
was tabled:

"A motion was tabled to immediately close and dissolve the OpenCard
Consortium. Lack of support, commitment and interest from members drive us
to close the consortium."

Votes from the Board are being collected. If a majority of votes received
are to close, it is then proposed to release all Opencard software into the
public arena for general use. We would also close down the mailing list
servers and web site etc.

We would like to hear your views. Any suggestions for managing/maintaining
the software if the consortium closes should be posted to this mailing list
or sent to the secretary at the address below.

Regards
Neville
