I wonder if this reader isn't locked to accept the only 3 types of cards specified in documentation.
No, it's not.
Is there anybody who successfully used this reader with own written programs and Java cards?
Yes, the Sun internal reader supports most any T=0 cards. I'm not sure what our offical position is on T=1 card support for that reader.
You can use the Sun-proprietary SCF APIs to talk to the reader or you can get the PC/SC-to-SCF shim which is a layer that provides a PC/SC lite API on top of SCF (the shim is available from the MUSCLE website I think).
