In the end that X server bug might be solved. But in order to maintain good cairo performance, openchrome should implement accelerated composite solid pictures. I have implemented that in the chrome driver with: http://dev.laptop.org/git/users/jnettlet/xf86-video-chrome/commit/?id=953446421108e204156f730e27bcab2768c909f6 The same thing can probably be applied to openchrome without much effort.
