Thanks. I checked out the SVN trunk last night. It worked!
Playing mpeg-2 recordings puts my CPU load around 25% so I don't think I have the VLD support enabled in MythTV. Howerver, the XVMC driver works and the tearing / screen artifacts are gone. Whooo hooo! I'll try recompiling mythtv and let you know how I make out.
