I think the magic parameter is the following:
Option "ActiveDevice" "LCD,CRT"
My xorg.conf is quite minimal but I can switch to VTs and back with no
problems. I am also using a build from trunk.
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Driver "openchrome"
Option "ActiveDevice" "LCD,CRT"
EndSection
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Configured Monitor"
EndSection
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
