#309: P4M890 trunk regression: lock up on resolution changing (0.2.903 OK)

I try to run Diablo II in Wine. My VGA monitor native resolution is
1280x1024.
When using 0.2.903 it starts fine (changes res to 640x480) and I can even
start game (changes res to 800x600).
When using trunk (rev 753) I start game, it changes resoution to 640x480
and that's the last frame I can see (game doesn't even show). Then I can't
restart X, can't go to VT console, can't ACPI power down it. Only SysRq is
rescue.
However if I start game in window mode (using trunk) it works fine. So
just modesetting seeme to be broken.
I'll try to understand how to bisect in svn and will try to find first
broken commit.
