Dear openchrome community, I am running Ubuntu 9.04 on a notebook that is equipped with a VIA Chrome 9 chip. The question I have is regarding the issue of direct rendering and drm which currently does not seem to be supported by the openchrome driver.
Although there exists a proprietary kernel module adding dri supporting for Ubuntu 8.10, VIA has not release anything similar for Ubuntu 9.04 as of yet. So the question I have is, will there be support for dri in openchrome at some point? I think it was in december of last that I was enlightened to read a news article talking about VIA's willingness to cooperate with the openchrome project in matters regarding 3D acceleration. To the contrary, I have recently heard of rumours saying that VIA will not at all back up the the efforts brought forth by the openchrome project. So what's the status on this, does anybody know anything more precis? It would be really nice to have it working as I'm really not keen on using anything proprietary anyways ... Thank you all!
