I return to report that the problem still exists with the combinaton of
openSUSE 11.2, KDE 4.3 and openchrome 0.2.904 (on the same machine as
before).
The line is now green not pink, but the symptoms remain the exact same.
I can supply xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log if needed, just ask.
