After updating to 9-CURRENT I was able to get Xorg to report (II) CHROME(0): direct rendering enabled.
The problem is now whenever I try to open anything OpenGL-related everything just stops responding, forcing me to reboot manually. I have no idea where the problem is, or how to begin searching how to solve it.
