Yep, OpenCog has really been made for that. Just want to re-emphasize that it is a work in progress (especially PLN), to not create disappointment later on.
BTW, so you know, although I haven't started implementing surprinsingness, I'm back working on the pattern miner, and it's the very next thing on my list.
