I’d like to welcome the contribution of a new object model schema, PAS and NAS modules from Dell to the SONiC project. Thank you Dell!
Our target is to integrate this code into the SONiC project by the end of 2016. Changes will be discussed in our weekly development meetings and will show up in github with this goal in mind. This code is being open sourced now so the community can follow the integration efforts. Briefly, the object model schema describes the API and database objects for PAS and NAS. PAS (Platform adaptation service) provides API’s to access fans, power supplies, leds and other hardware peripherals on network switches. NAS (Network adaptation service) is ASIC control software for programming SAI compliant ASIC SDK’s. Cliff Wichmann will post a much more detailed introduction of the components and links to the code and documentation. -Darren
