Dear Tristan Rhodes,
Greetings,
I have successfully used OpenProtect on Suse 8.2 and 9.0 with Sendmail.
No problems at all, very easy to setup.
I want to recommend this software to a friend who is running Solaris with Sendmail. Can I expect the same experience with Solaris? Any special steps I need to be aware of?
Thanks,
Tristan Rhodes
OpenProtect includes ClamAV, Kaspersky and the necessary libs like libz, libbz2, libgmp etc in binary form, so they can be run only on i386 machines with Linux ABI emulation on *BSD, Solaris etc. So, it should be possible to run OpenProtect on Solaris i386. But, SPARC, SPARC64 solaris is supported only by MailScanner, SpamAssassin both of which are perl. Also, ClamAV can be compiled from source.
So, only a manual install is possible under SPARC machines. We didn't have any request to add support for Solaris(i386 and SPARC) till now. But, if you need it though, we can build that support(at least for i386) using your feedback.
