when /var/qmail/queue.in/intd/ is empty and openprotect stopped the new mail gets 4670809 the second one gets 4670810 etc. It seems everytime the /var/qmail/queue.in/intd/ is empty the numbering starts from 4670809.
I have similar observations, the problem is that qmail-queue starts numbering messages with the inode which is free, which is a performance consideration and mailscanner also tries to store the message into the archive directory with this number, but the problem is once MailScanner processes the message and moves it to /var/qmail/queue, the inode becomes free.
this problem needs some hacking of message.pm, so i would advice that people stop using archiving with qmail until then.
