I was able to get your email address from the IBM site. I stumbled across it by trying to search for an IBM site that helps fix errors in my Windows 98 which in turn have caused my system to crash totally 8 times since I bought it January 4, 1999. I have contacted tech support repeatedly and have not gotten it fixed. I saw your email online regarding code errors and such and thought I may have some luck chatting with you.

One error I get repeatedly is a fatal exception in KERNEL32.DLL. This usually occurs prior to the blue screen of death. I have also gotten many other error messages involving DLL files.  IBM sent me a new Product Recovery Disk as they thought perhaps the one that came with my system was corrupted.  Recently I got yet another KERNEL32.DLL error message. My system is an IBM Aptiva 2158-270. IBM has now sent me a new hard drive.

The reason I am writing is that a computer tech told me that replacing the hard drive is not going to solve my problem.  My problem is more than likely in my motherboard.  If this is so, what should I do?

If I have inadvertantly contacted you in error, please forgive my intrusion. If not, would you please answer my question as soon as possible so I can contact IBM ASAP and ask for a motherboard instead of the hard drive.  I just want my machine to work for me like I know it is capable of.

Sincerely,
J. Rannin
