While compiling on RedHat 6.1 and SGI IRIX 6.5.5 I fixed a couple of other stuff. The SGI binaries no more complain about SHM, as I mentioned. The patch should work against CVS as of March 14, 2000 on SGI IRIX 6.5.5, Linux RH 6.1, Cygwin 1.1. I could work with each dxsample and did not do any core dump, crashes, or errors. It remains to be tested on Sun Solaris. I am not willing to apply such a huge patch to CVS unless it is well tested for a few more other platforms. Regards Suhaib
