Hi all,
Now that things are getting stable and 4.1
is just around the corner (yea!), I'm getting ready to start distributing OpenDX
to researchers on our campus. One thing I've noticed is that the UNIX
distributions available are all .tar.gz files (except for Suhaib's Linux
rpm's). This works fine for development and testing, or even for a
single-user, but for our case it's a support nightmare. What I've been
working on (and would be happy to upload when 4.1 is ready) is an SGI
inst/tardist package along with tardist packages of up-to-date versions of HDF,
netcdf, cdf, ImageMagick etc. If someone building for AIX were interested
in building LPP packages of OpenDX +aux. packages and made those available for
download it would help out immensely. I know that this isn't "development"
per se, but I just wanted to see if I'm off in left field on this or
not.
