I have XFree86 running. It's pretty bare bones, but at least
I get some windows now. There are rumors that Apple has plans
to support X applications running along side Quartz. This makes
a lot of sense. Why go to the trouble of building a new Unix-like OS
and not support existing Unix apps. The copy of XFree86 I'm using came
right out of Apple's Darwin cvs repository. I have downloaded the Motif source
but have not attempted a compile yet.
