That is pretty much where gcc kicked out when I tried to compile
opendx yesterday. I too was trying to compile 4.0.6. The errors look like

../../../include/dx/advanced.h:41: parse error before `lock_type'
../../../include/dx/advanced.h:41: warning: data definition has no type or 
storage class

I'll play with it some. Let me know if anyone recalls exactly what
changes have to be made. I am more of a finite elements/fortran-90
coding type and get mixed up reasonably quickly when trying to figure
out some of this code.
