Are you running interactively? If not, you may wish to try running one of the scripts one line by one line. I think that the Display may be opening and closing so fast that you never see it. If you run the script as dx -script scripname, then it will do this if there is a Display in the script.

     I've not used -script enough in the past to know whether this is the
expected behavior.

     Using the "dx" script on a multi-processor IRIX box, Display modules in
scripts do not open any windows; the script just aborts silently when it gets
to the Display.
     Adding -processors 1 results in a working script (with Display windows
mapping and displaying images).
