I know Richard Guenther's sentiment is meant well, but until he can provide me with a solution I can't believe it. Primarily because between the versions, they redefined some of the Macros. For example AC_PROG_CC_G no longer exists. I will try out my new stuff on some 2.1.3 versions this morning and let you know, but it obviously isn't going to be the same as previous (whether it actually works will be another story.) I'll give more info later.

David

I guess in the best of all worlds, it should work with *any* autoconf.
Does the current version work with the new autoconf, foregoing use of the
new built-ins? Is it possible to create a autoconf version-independent
configure.in?

If not, or if its really crufty, then I'm with Pete ... got to stay
current.
