I guess this didn't get through either

 |1. How is the timing on the type-ahead? If you wait 2 seconds, then
 |you can begin selecting a new module--otherwise you are continuing
 |the search name. For example type "f" followed by "o" and "r" all
 |within 2 seconds of each other then you're looking for "for". Wait
 |more than two seconds after the "o" and pressing the "r" will take
 |you to the first "r" record. Should the time be shortened?

Sorry, I haven't actually tried it yet, but off-hand, 2sec seems a bit long, since the main reason for wanting to start over is because you mistyped, not because you suddenly begin a search for a differently named module (I think). On the other hand, M$ (Win2K at least) has a way-too-short delay to clear: I have to type like a maniac to "beat" it to the clear buffer. Mac always seemed about right (except for the pesky file-renaming business: waiting for the filename to become selected, vs. opening the file after becoming impatient and clicking again: I'm sure you know what I mean, David.) So somewhere in-between all those constraints. (:-)

Not sure I follow. Wouldn't you just activate the All category and then
start typing module names?

Randy

I agree: it's main functionality would be to search All. (I only used M$ when I need to find my user directory among the several hundred in the user folder on our system).

I personally prefer focus to be "explicit" at least by location of the cursor (not requiring an explicit click here, of course). Probably only useful in Tools: area.

It's a clever idea, nonetheless! Glad to see more Mac-like features creeping in...

Now, if you could just add Option|Alt-double-clicking on Controls to bring up the "name" dialog...
